Eco Team

Welcome to the Eco Club!

We are the Eco team and we know that our earth is in danger. So many animals' homes are being destroyed because of humans and we think this is wrong. We want to save the earth for future generations to enjoy and for animals and plants to continue surviving. We understand that schools can often be wasteful, they might waste paper and other resources, food and electricity. However, we want to change this and make Moorfield more environmentally friendly. Please see our school action plan to see how we aim to achieve this.

Our main goal is to achieve the Green Flag award, an international award programme that guides schools on their journey towards being sustainable.

Here are some of our ideas:

  • Selling fruit and vegetables from Gardening Club
  • Cooking and baking with our 'home grown' fruits and vegetables.
  • Taking part in class litter picks.
  • Recycling more in school.

We have already designed and created a hedgehog house which sits alongside our bug hotel and will continue encouraging wildlife to share our space. Next, we will be delivering an assembly to the rest of the school on where electricity comes from, our energy usage and how we can reduce our energy use in school.

Please ask us if you want any help in becoming more environmentally friendly at home.

Many thanks,

Miss McLaughlin and the Eco Team
